Cofactor
§ About est. 2024 · davie, fl

A small practice running software for forty-one businesses.

We started Cofactor because we kept seeing the same shape of problem in our consulting work: a small business with real software needs, a budget that didn't justify a full-time engineer, and a Squarespace site that had hit its ceiling two years ago. We thought a flat-fee service contract — built around AI agents and a small senior team — was a better answer than another $40,000 quote.

§ 01 — Principles

Six rules we won't break, even when a client asks.

  1. 01

    Flat fees, not hourly.

Hourly billing rewards slowness. Annual fees reward shipping. We pick shipping.

  2. 02

    One named human accountable.

Every account has a senior engineer or CTO whose name and number you have. The agent fleet works for them, not for you.

  3. 03

    Boring stack on purpose.

Postgres, Rails, a queue, a single region until you need more. Novelty in the AI layer; reliability everywhere else.

  4. 04

    No agent ships unsupervised.

A senior engineer signs every merge. We've tested the alternative; we wrote about what we found.

  5. 05

    Honest pricing.

No "starting at," no per-seat surcharges, no enterprise sales tax. The price on the page is the price.

  6. 06

    Easy to leave.

Standard formats, clean export, 60-day transition support. Lock-in is a feature for the seller, never the buyer.

§ 02 — The team

Four humans. About sixty agents on the payroll.
